Motorrad’s exclusive high performance bike soon to be delivered to first customers. The long wait for BMW’s HP2 Megamoto is almost over – the eagerly anticipated, super-high quality machine will be arriving in Motorrad showrooms in July.
The HP2 Megamoto is the second product from the exclusive BMW Motorrad ‘High Performance’ line. The Megamoto is an original, premium motorcycle that continues BMW’s ‘HP’ philosophy of offering unique, high performance, quality motorcycles, which are hand-built with high-grade materials and quality components.
Designed as a street-legal twin-cylinder Supermoto, the Megamoto blends aggressive good-looks and the ultimate in street performance. The motorcycle is widely considered to be the most uncompromising and single-minded street bike BMW Motorrad has ever produced.
Throughout the Megamoto’s concept and design phases, a key goal for BMW engineers has been to deliver pure characterful performance. The powerplant is a tuned version of BMW’s iconic Boxer-twin engine, pumping out an impressive 113hp with a class leading 115Nm of torque. With the use of modern, lightweight materials, such as carbon fibre, the Megamoto weighs in at just 179kg, thus giving the bike a mightily impressive, arm-wrenching power to weight ratio.
No expense has been spared with chassis components to ensure captivating handling and uncompromising road holding. A fully adjustable, top of the range Öhlins shock absorber ensures consistently stable rear-end feedback, whilst accurate steering is achieved with sturdy, upside-down 45mm Marzocchi front forks. Along with the hand-built trellis frame chassis, the Megamoto achieves both sensitive and responsive steering, whilst maintaining maximum high speed stability.
Tony Jakeman, BMW Motorrad’s Marketing Manager said, “The Megamoto has been designed and built for those riders who strive to be different and want a top-end, high-quality motorcycle that has class leading performance, that is fast, fun and innovative. The bike typifies BMW Motorrad’s brand shift to producing an ever more diverse range of premium performance motorcycles that appeal to connoisseur riders.
